Brandon (All Star inter-actor), Jake (All Star- participant), and Katie (popular girl) are sitting at the table.
Ashley strolls to the table just as the bell is ringing.
Ashley: Right on time!
Brandon and Jake exchange a look.
Brandon: Barely!
Ashley sticks her tongue out at him and exchanges a look with JAKE.
ASHLEY: Jake! Are you gonna let him talk to your girlfriend like that?
JAKE replies
REN: to the room Woooww, we got a full house in detention today!
ASHLEY: to Katie commenting on Ren Wow! I can’t believe you used to be best friends with her.
KATIE:
Ashley sets her bag down, and instead of sitting in the chair, she sits on the table tossing her hair flirtatiously.
ASHLEY: I totally saved you from social ruin.
ASHLEY: Katie weren’t you supposed to have that meeting with student council about prom?
KATIE responds
ASHLEY: So is that just like cancelled now?
KATIE:
ASHLEY: I mean… pointing at Alex and Rebecca. I guess it must be if the President and Vice President are also here.
KATIE: Responds
ASHLEY: Well, I hope it gets rescheduled soon! You have to convince them not to do the lame under the sea theme!
KATIE:
They continue until Ashley overhears the boys making plans.
BRANDON: to Jake tired of listening to Ashley Coach is pissed that we’re missing practice.
Hold for participant response– Hopefully Jake brings up the note from coach. If he doesn’t, ask if he has the note from coach.
BRANDON: Do you think Principal Sharpe will accept it?
JAKE responds
BRANDON: I hope so! We’ve got playoffs this weekend.
JAKE:
BRANDON: It worked last time I got detention.
JAKE:
BRANDON: I guess a food fight is a bit more serious than a tardy though.
JAKE:
BRANDON: Well if he doesn’t, you wanna come over after we get out of here and practice at my place?
JAKE: Assumedly agrees. They continue to talk about plans this evening until ASHLEY notices.
ASHLEY: Are you two making plans for tonight?
JAKE and BRANDON affirm
ASHLEY: Babe! Are you serious
JAKE: Assumedly surprised and confused
ASHLEY: Oh my god, you forgot!
Her anger shifts to flirtation. Try to add physical touch on the shoulders or hand.
ASHLEY: You’re supposed to be coming over to my place tonight, remember?
Her flirtatious undertones, imply the nature of those plans.
JAKE: Replies
BRANDON: We’ve got the big game on Sunday. We gotta make sure we’re ready. Why don’t you and Katie hang out instead?
Ashley gives Jake a look.
JAKE Response: If Jakes response is to keep plans with Ashley, skip the next lines.
ASHLEY: Katie and I have plans tomorrow. Tonight’s plans are special, right Jake?
JAKE: Responds
Brandon throws a glance to Katie, hopefully prompting her to join the questioning.
BRANDON: Ohhh, what’s so special about tonight?
ASHLEY: I don’t think that’s any of your business, Brandon.
Brandon looks between the group members as if to say “is what I think is happening really happening and do you know too?”
BRANDON: Oh, come on. You really think there are any secrets between us? (Punches Jake in the arm or go for high 5.)
ASHLEY: Fine, you nosy little prick, my parents are going to be out of town this weekend, so Jake and I were going to enjoy some… alone time.
Group reacts.
BRANDON: (To JAKE ) SCORE, dude!!!
Assuming he joins in the reaction Ashley smacks his shoulder, lightly offended, but also loving the attention.
ASHLEY To Katie changing the subject. Anyway.... Katie, did the committee finish tallying the prom nominations???
KATIE: Responds and pulls out the list
If Katie responds no
Ashley: Oh, shut up! I know you’re lying. I know it doesn’t officially go up til Monday, but you’re really going to keep it a secret from your best friend?
If she still doesn’t pull it out (ie she doesn’t know it’s there).
Ashley: I bet it’s in here isn’t it? putting a finger on the folder and giving Katie a mischievous look.
Give her a beat to take it out. If she still doesn’t snatch the folder away and look inside to find the list.
Ashley: I knew it!!
ASHLEY: Placing the list at the center of the table. Squeals with excitement. Look who’s #1 on the list!!
She puts her hands on Jake’s shoulders and puts her face near his cheek.
ASHLEY: You and me baby!! Bakersfield High’s power couple.
Let JAKE respond
BRANDON: You do realize the order is not a ranking right?
ASHLEY: Whatever, you’re just jealous because you’re number 4. To Katie realizing you maybe also just insulted your best friend And of course number 2 is also greeaaat!
Wait for KATIE respond.
BRANDON: Or, maybe they’re just in alphabetical order. Right Katie?
Snatching the list from Ashley and handing it back to Katie
KATIE: responds
The conversation can tangent here to ground participants, but eventually bring it back to the list.
ASHLEY: Who else made the prom list?
KATIE READS: Brandon and/ or Katie
ASHLEY: Well, duh!
KATIE: Continues reading. When she gets to Taylor
ASHLEY: Who is Taylor?
BRANDON: The new kid. You know, the one who threw the soda in your face.
Brandon points at Taylor
ASHLEY: How did he/she make the list?
BRANDON: Probably because he/ she threw a soda in your face!
Brandon jabs Jake and looks at Katie with knowing looks, laughing together. Ashley roles her eyes.
ASHLEY: Ughh, as if! calling out Jake and/or Katie’s response You’re really gonna let him treat me like this?
Let KATIE AND JAKE respond
BRANDON: You kinda deserved it!
ASHLEY: As if!
BRANDON: You insulted her only friend.
ASHLEY: Well she kinda deserved it!
BRANDON: Did she? Looks at Jake and Katie , You both saw it too…
JAKE and KATIE weigh in
BRANDON: What did you call her? The saint of freak accidents?
JAKE and KATIE weigh in
ASHLEY: changing the subject . Ok, who else in on the list?
KATIE: Continues reading names.When she gets to Alex.
ASHLEY: Skeptically No way, Alex?? Nerd alert!
BRANDON: Ashley, shut up! She/ he is right over there. He/she is the student body president, you know.
Throw focus to JAKE and KATIE for reactions.
ASHLEY: So?
Beat for participants to answer.
ASHLEY: This is prom court, not student council.
Wrap up the list beat. At this point the conversation can continue as a full table or split in two again to talk about prom dates.
ASHLEY: Did you decide who you’re going with yet?
KATIE:
ASHLEY: Oh my god! You’re still keeping both Garret and David on the hook?!
KATIE:
ASHLEY: Is there someone else you’re hoping for? If she hesitates, gasp. Ooooh, ok, ok! We’ll talk about it later.
KATIE:
ASHLEY: What about you Brandon? Have you asked anyone, or are you still pining over Katie?
BRANDON: I think I might just go stag.
Group reacts, surprised. No, no, no. We’ll find him a date. Maybe Taylor or one of the other queen nominees? Definitely not Alex!

At some point Ren and the rebels will come around with the camera. When they do react.

ANYONE (when you’re group starts running out of steam feel free to initiate the transition): Where the hell is Mr. Sharpe? To the room. Sharpe’s on deck cue.
REN: Oh yeah…. I saw him using the pay phone. He seemed a bit frazzled.
ASHLEY: If he doesn’t show up does that mean we get to leave?
REBECCA: I don’t think that’s how it works.
Sharpe enters, flustered.
